The first day of the month is rife with opportunities to set new, at times arbitrary, goals. For that reason, the first of each month tends to be my favorite (unless it is simultaneously rainy, windy, and cold, then the first day can go sit on a tack). The goal categories span anywhere from physical fitness, intellectual improvements, social/interpersonal upkeep, etc. For instance, in January I decided to run every single day - even if the run was only a minute long. It was a raging success! This month, I decided to not buy any clothing or accessories: so far, so good.
The one goal that I can never seem to achieve is a sleep goal. I love to wake up at 5:35AM before the sun and I love the look of 23:00 in the corner of my iPad while I read…my late nights out are relegated to my pajamas and my stories.
In the cabin pictured above, I have managed to sleep in until 6-something for two days in a row. My Apple Watch congratulated me on my success, to boot. The cabin has skylights right above the sleeping chamber (the loft) and presents the most spectacular night skies and robin-egg mornings. It is nice to re-sync my circadian rhythm with that of the sun. For the sake of the sleep goal, maybe I ought to stick around these parts a little longer.
Let’s cook up some October goals to share in a few days, what say1?

Bruce implored that I change this to “what say you?” but I refuse! It is a real idiom used in southern English and I will keep it without a subject.
Bruce’s comment made me laugh. It seems you might’ve had a couple of goals this month if you count this daily newsletter what you’ve done an admirable job of! Let us know what your goals are for your birthday month occurring in just a few days.
